madwifi atheros card cant find IP address!

The installation of the madwifi driver went just like the instructions, no problems with FC5. I installed using yum.

BUT.......the card cant seem to find the IP address, I get the message: "Determining IP adress for ath0...failed" In the network configuration hardware window, the status says: "ok"

The laptop, a Dell C400 is duel boot, the card works fine with Win XP when booted into windows. so I know the router / card combo can work.

Can anyone please shed light on this problem, it's very close to working.


Earlier help on this board was great, steered me to madwifi. I happened to have a card with the atheros chipset on it.

are you using encryption on your WAP?
have you checked the WAP settings. Make sure you have the right autentication key? try using Wireless Assistant it will show you all the WAP's in your area and allow you to make your connection. IE entering in your key and such.
