hi all

wireless network issues here

i got a gigabyte gn-br01g wireless router and gn-wp01gs wireless nic for my home network, but they are not playing together at all.
i can't get a consistent connection (let alone decent speed), it's never higher than 18mbps, and usually 5.5mbps or less, or not connected at all
they are about 6m apart

my question is, should i get an antenna to try to strengthen the signal
or should i just replace the router/nic combo with a better package?

also, the gigabyte nic isn't detected at all in fc4 -> which sorta points me in the direction of replacing the router+nic

whether it is 54 or 108 mbps router/nic, i don't really care
i just want something that will work well

does anyone know if these work in linux (nic only obviously), and should provide me a better connection?

--> routers
dlink di 524
dlink di 524up-usb
dlink di 624
dlink di 624s-usb
linksys wrt54g (prolly a lower end model)
netgear wgr614
netgear wgt624

--> nic
dlink pci dwl-g510
dlink pci dwl-g520
netgear pci wg311
netgear pci wg311t
linksys pci wmp54g

these are the ones which they have at my local store, so i'm happy with that, if they are proven to work

thanks
dave
