Hello,

i am relatively new to Linux and recently installed FC5 and connected to the internet through a LinkSys router. the process was easy and intially i could access the internet through my router. last night, i did two things: (1) ran Software Updater and (2) installed several additional packages so that i could evenatually run a web and ftp server. after doing these two things, i was prompted to reboot the workstation. now, the problem is that i cannot access the internet anymore.

i can ping the router's internal address 192.168.1.1 ; however, when i try and ping the static IP assigned to my router i get the following error message: "Network is unreachable". note: i have a Win2000 machine connencted to this same router that can access the internet.

i used the Network Configuration gui to setup my connection. i have assigned a static IP address to the workstation (192.168.1.2) a subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and am using the internet gateway provided by my ISP (this is the same setup that was working before). the DNS gui tab reads as follows: hostname = localhost.localdomain , primary and secondary DNS server addresses provided by my ISP , DNS search path = localdomain.

any thoughts would be welcome,
thanks

looks like i figured-out the problem. i was using the wrong gateway. changed the gateway to 192.168.1.1 and everything is OK now.
