Easiest way with fc5 with stock precompiled kernels with no kernel-devel*.rpm installed is to get the ndiswrapper from here http://www.atrpms.net/ . Get the one that matches your kernel and then as root install using the command ' rpm -ivh ndis*.rpm ' from where it was downloaded to. Now follow the step by step setup from the ndiswrappee wiki page.
To see which kernel you have you can use any of the following commnads
uname -r
or if precompiled rpm version you can also do
rpm -qa | grep kernel
Doing this one will show if you have the kernel-devel installed matching the exact version.
FOr furture note if you upgrade the kernel you need to get the ndiswrapper that matches the new kernel version. Ndiswrapper, Madwifi, Vmware and many other apps like this require the kernel source to build the needed modules to work with the kernel. So in the future it would be best to install the kernel-devel that matches the kernel so if no new updated rpm from atrpm is available for the installed kernel you can build them from the source. Read the readme and install docs in the source of the files if you go that route.

I believe your card can use the madwifi drivers so there's no need for ndiswrapper. check your other post. And try not to double post similar problems anymore.

I don't think the 650+ can the plain 650 can use the madwifi. I have seen post on the 650+ using this driver. http://acx100.sourceforge.net/ Most users perfer the ndiswrapper for this card though. Simpler to setup I guess.

I saw it listed in the madwifi wiki: http://madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility So that's the only reason why i suggested it. madwifi is incredibly easy to set up which is why i thought it might be easier for him, although I'm sure there are good reasons to use ndiswrapper instead of madwifi, if that's what users seem to prefer.

Looks about like netgear as well. There are 2 versions of wp511 version 2. One made in china and one made in taiwan. The taiwan version uses the prism54 modules where the china version can only use ndiswrapper because it is a softmac card. Dlink seems to made multiple versions of the dwl-650+. Some will use madwifi and others use the acx100 drivers. I have an old dwl-650+ might have to find it and see what it was.
Thanks for the info.
