Okay, I have the fabled Intel Wireless Pro 2200BG card in my laptop, I have installed the ipw2200 drivers, and had the IEEE stuff present prior to installation(used the rpm -qa | grep ieee and it returned libieee1284-0.2.9-3.2.1) so I didn't install anything IEEE like.

I had the nm-applet running in the root account and was able to connect to the wireless lan that is using WPA Personal encryption. When I try to setup the nm-applet in my 'user' account it would only give me access to the lanline (eth0) connection and no mention of wireless. So I went back to root and it gave me the same problem

When I used the iwlist scan command I do see the SSID broadcast and related info of the wireless lan desired, but only can run the command as root (not sure if that is normal)

Even my attempts to activate the 2200BG card (eth1) fail everytime

I do have wpa-supplicant daemon running, and it reports all good

Any ideals how to remedy this problem?

I have looked into ndiswrapper, but I don't see the need for it when I did have a wireless connection for sometime being
