This knowledge base article is vital reading for all those regulars on this forum. Please follow the instructions at once! </sarcasm>

It is quite amusing that Microsoft provides documentation on how to remove Linux and then install Win XP. Surely someone who has installed Linux is going to have an idea of how to install Win XP? As generally people who use or have experimetned with Linux are computer minded.

You can read the knowledge base article here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314458).

Are you sure this in an actual knowledge base article and not just an internal company memo:p Wouldn't you like to see the embarasing meta-data on this one!:D

Indeed I would.

Now I'm not an anti-microsoft zealot, but that article is damn right hilarious.

Should we create a "How To" on deleting Windoze, and installing linux? Never mind
1. Insert disk 1 of you favorite Linux Distro (Fedora:)) and allow disk druid to remove all partitions.
Complete installation, and enjoy more secure computing:)

I'm sad to see it, but I have to admit the article is a good one. Specifc and to the point. Step by step instructions to remove Linux. :(

At least they admit Window and Linux can coexist, but point readers in the direction of Linux to do so.

That's what dual boot howtos are for! :)

Yes, it was nice to see them admit it.

But the article is still amusing to say the least.

NOTE: Windows XP and Linux can coexist on the same computer. For additional information, refer to your Linux documentation.

Now that is funny....it like saying "we know how, but we aint gonna tell ya"

One would think that a person who was already running linux would be perfectly capable of booting off the xp disc and hitting the "format" button. Who knows, ms does seem to cater to the extremely computer illiterate sometimes.

of course there are people with linux on it, who don't know how to delete it. You can buy a plenty of second-hand computers in Germany, where Linux is installed. Some of the former users where Linux-users, but that's a minority. The majority are guys without a windows-license or, who don't want to give their license away. So they install Linux, to show, that the computer is working.
Or there might be a change of admins. From a good Linux root, to a bad windows administrator ;) Than the new one would like to use the system he is used to. And there are enough admins here, who don't know how to format a hdd ;)
