Why does everyone keep on installing ieee80211-1.1.14.tgz? ipw2200 is enabled by default in fedora 5. All you need is the firmware, which is easily available from the livna repository or from sourceforge (Fedora does not provide it because it is proprietary). When you do the above compilation you overwrite fedora's modules and it apparantly breaks things for lots of people -- there have been several threads already on this.
Whomever you got the instructions from to install ieee80211-1.1.14.tgz, please email them and tell them to clarify their instructions, since they are leading many people astray. As for backing out of this yourself, the simplest might be a clean re-install of fedora if you have not done too much else already.

Yes there is a way.....Make sure you have the kernel-devel package installed, now goto your ieee80211 directory and type "make uninstall" without the quotes, then run the remove-old script "sh ./remove-old" without the quotes. Now from the ie800211 run the make and make install. Just for future reference all the kernels come with built-in support for the Intel Pro Wireless 2200/2915 series of cards so the drivers and the iee80211 do not need to be installed unless you have a need or want to. BTW you will need the 3.0 version of the firmware and unzipped and copied to the /lib/firmware directory.

See this error "dev15933" this is not a valid device name. You will need to edit your /etc/modprobe.conf file and add this line:
alias eth1 ipw2200
Save and reboot

Now goto to system -->admin -->network Do both your ethernet and wireless cards show? If your wireless card does not show Select new, select wireless does your wireless card show in the list, if it does go ahead and configure it for your settings.

Highlight your wireless and click the "edit" tab double check and make sure sure there are check marks in the "Use DHCP" and "Obtain DNS Info". Run through the other tabs and make sure they are set correctly. Also post your:
/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
to make sure all the settings are getting set.....
