I am unable to connect to any websites. I have a valid ip address. I can ping other computers on my local network. I can also ping my router. I tried pinging www.google.com and the error I get is "unknown host: www.google.com". I also tried pinging the ip address of google.com and I get "destination Net unreachable" Sometimes the internet it will start working again. Then a little later it will stop working. I have no idea why. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Hello:
Can you do a nslookup www.google.com
if so, can you successfully ping the actual IP address ?
If you cannot do a nslookup, then can you successfully ping
72.14.203.99

Hello:
Can other boxes on your network successfully ping both the IP address and hostname of your FC box?

Hello;
Dunno, you may want to have a look at your router's settings [firewall settings]?
As it seems that your ip / hostname is being blocked from getting any further than your local network?

The other computers on the network work fine. I checked the router setting and I didn't see anything that would block that one pc. Any other ideas?

Hello:
Hmmm .... gettin near to the bottom of my barrel here :)
I am not sure if this was an issue for some or not with FC3, [I can't recall, sorry]
You may want to add to your /etc/modprobe.conf
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
to disable ipv6
you could also check your /etc/hosts file
and add if not there already
xxx.xxx.x.xxx yourhostname
yourhostname xxx.xxx.x.xxx
where xxx.xxx.x.xxx is your IP
restart your network or reboot and see how it goes

I already had "alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off" in the modprobe.conf file
Thanks for your help seve
if anyone has anything let me know.
