netgear WG111 network problems

hello all, it seams lately my network connection has been crashing, well, my internet connection to be more precise. I use a netgear WG111 (ver1) through ndiswrapper, most of the time it works, just every now and then (most days tbh) I notice that webpages stop loading! my wireless notifier in the top right (a sort of series of bars indicating my signal strength) still appears to think I'm connected. I try to sort it out by resetting it, ie going into network settings, and deactivating wlan0 and re-activating it. this doesn't work! nor does right clicking my wireless indicator and selecting disable wireless, and then enabling it from there. I tried uninstalling the drivers using ndiswrapper and then reinstalling them, again with no luck. My only clue as to whats going wrong here is that since I've started having this problem, ocasionally my system hangs on shutdown when it gets to "stopping iptables" or "disabling iptables" or whatever .... anyway, anyone willing to shine some light on my problem will a great help, and thanks a lot in advance

-edit - its "unloading iptables module" that it hangs on, it did it agin just a few minutes ago!
