Hello,

I'm new to Fedora Core6 and so far I got everything to work, but my wireless internet connection. There seem to be a lot of threads dealing with ipw2*00 problems, but I couldn't find a solution for mine.

By now I'm able to connect to my network (WEP), that's at least what the networkmanager tells me, but I can't ping or connect to any machine. The wired connection works.

ifconfig eth1:
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:04:23:71:4D:3A
inet Adresse:10.105.0.16 Bcast:10.105.255.255 Maske:255.255.0.0

RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:32522 (31.7 KiB)
Interrupt:10 Basisadresse:0x6000 Speicher:e0206000-e0206fff

dmesg gives me this error:

ipw2100: Fatal interrupt. Scheduling firmware restart.

can someone give me a hint what to do to get things running? thanks.

Ok so are you saying your wireless connection doesn't work?? as in... you're connected to your network but can't browse pages etc??? Also. What steps have you taken thus far to try and get your wireless working, like installing firmware etc.

yeah, it's a bit confusing.. networkmanager, ifconfig and iwconfig tell me i'm connected to my wlan but i can't ping any host or the wlan router and i can't establish the pppoe connection.
I have also ubuntu installed on the notebook and everything is working here.

So far I installed the firmware (1.3) through livna (wired..), configured the device with a static ip and WEP-key with networkmanager.

what's confusing me is the line in ifconfig eth1:

RX packets:0 errors:4569 dropped:4569 overruns:0 frame:0

all packets got errors and are dropped?

See here just replace the IPW2200 with IPW2100
http://jimlawrnc.mine.nu/mywiki/Ipw2200Install

Firmware
http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

if you have installed anything already please do not follow the instructions until all that was installed has been removed.
Also make sure your device is not set to be active on boot
