hi,

i want to connect to the internet using Local Area Network,
I have a DSL connection, and a router, and a LAN cable is connected to my laptop, but although Fedora 6 recognizes my ethernet driver and says Ethernet Connection Established, i can not connect to the internet.

I am new to Linux, so what should I try doing?..
Everything seems to be OK since a connection is established and my hardware is recognized..

More information is needed here Krylkn, ie:- has IP address and gateway of your network card been configured, has your firewall if any been configured to allow internet access, has "Selinux" if not disabled been configured to allow internet access? I use Fedora5 not 6 so you may need someone else to tell you how to do this if not OK.

This might seem a silly question but are you trying to connect directly through the router to the DSL ,modem I presume, or through another computer on the lan? Also is the DSL connection able to recognise the IP address you are using. I'm not sure of your hardware setup but if at all possible you may want to try connecting the laptop directly to the DSL to see if the problem is in the router/lan setup. Usually finding whats wrong is a matter of eliminating possible problems until you find the answer. Hell I'm no expert but if any of this helps thats great. Hope you have some luck.

Please try one thing,

Take the router/modem out of the socket/switch it off for a min and then plug it in again, restart your pc that might do the trick. Let me know what happens. Good luck.
