Sloowww Internet... Please Help!

This has probably already been discussed but i couldn't find it in here soo... i am running fedora core 7 x86_64 with all the latest updates... intel celeron d 3.33ghz..1gb ram... nvidia 6200le... 6Mb/s internet connection... everything seems to run fine except the internet. To me it has all the symptoms of REALLY REALLY high latency, but i can boot into windows on the same machine and my connection just zips right along. So anybody got any ideas?

PS. No IPv6 enabled, and MTU is set to 1492.

hah... i think i just found my problem... i brought up the network control panel again and the wrong driver is installed for my network card. It is supposed to be VIA VT823x and it says VIA VT6102 how do i fix this?
