I see often these therms.

What is the difference between these 2 ?

Do the have the same functionality/hardware characteristics?

Who can give me a definition of these 2 terms ?

Diskless is quite well defined, it does not have spinning platter hard drives.

Often diskless stations are thin clients. Thin client is a bit more generic and refers to, in my opinion, a good portion of the processing is done on the server and the client is a "dumb" client with minimal hardware. Often the hardware has network booting and a keyboard mouse and that's about it. Sun Rays from Sun Microsystems are one example.

You don't have to not use a disk. I toyed with a regular desktop in a LTSP (http://www.ltsp.org/) setup.

I am right that :

a thin client can not run any process in tis own ?
Everything runs on the server. This is obliged

But a diskless station can run processes in its own?
It is not obliged that all the processes run on the server, some can run (in the ram) of the diskless station.
eg : dedicated firewall

Is this right ?
