Ok, it's the never-ending wireless issue again. I've installed rt61 driver from serialmonkey and it works fine. I installed wlassistant and was able to acces my wpa-protected wlan at once. However, when I turned the computer off, it was unable to stop wlan0. When I logged on the next time wlassistant assumes (of course, who wouldn't) that the wlan all of a sudden uses WEP. But it's not. I can acces it from my windows-box with wpa-encryption. Does anyone have a clue of whats going on here? Does anyone know where Wlassistant stores its conf-files? Does anyone have a suggestion of a resolution? Thanks in advance.

Ok, I solved it myself. It turned out that the Serialmokey-driver rt61 supports WPA itself. Therefore I was able to start my wireless manually with the following:
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid my_essid
iwpriv wlan0 set AuthMode=WPAPSK
iwpriv wlan0 set WPAPSK=my_password
iwpriv wlan0 set EncrypType=TKIP
dhclient wlan0
