Hello.

Ive recently set-up fedora core 6 and im currently attempting to get online with it.

It has picked up my network card and set that up for me, in the network configuration i have input the pcs desired address, standard subnet mask and gateway address (address of my router)

Address: 192.168.0.11 <--this is what i wanted to set the linux machine as.
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway (router address): 192.168.0.1

Ive set this "service" to activate everytime the computer starts.

Now i can ping the linux machine from any pc in the house and i can ping the router and any other pc from the linux machine, but it just does not seem to want to connect.

I have tried the restarting the network service, deactivating and then activating the network settings in the network configuration gui but no joy.

I found with red hat, all i needed to do was run netconfig, give it an ip, subnetmask and gateway and it just worked. But i know im missing something now.

Cheers
David (the n00b)

Sorry you were right with regards to DNS, i put in the wrong address to where DNS was pointing to, i set it to point to my router and that fixed it.

Cheers, David.
