Hi

Last night i got Fedora 7 installed and setup on my laptop dual booting with XP :D

Now i'm trying to connect to the internet via my wireless router. I've raided the internet all night trying to see if i gotta download drivers for linux or something else. I'm completely stuck. My router isn't picked up at all on Linux. Everythings working with regards to the router etc as i'm on online now! But my laptop doesn't seem to be able to find a network. I tried pinging my router but i don't know if i 'm using the right command.

ping 192.168..etc

Can i set it up without having to do coding in terminal???

I have a Belkin F5D7630-4A. I've been on the Belkin site and nothing.

I am no expert in this; but I think the problem is not with your router; but with the Wifi built into your laptop. Linux is not recognizing it and so it in turn does not recognize the signal from the router. I have a Belkin Wireless G USB device that works fine with Fedora 7. You can get them from Walmart for less than 35$. Fedora has drivers for it built into the system and you only have to plug it in an connect. I can connect to my own Belkin router plus three of my neighbors systems (just for testing purposes, one using a Belkin router, one a linksys router and one a Hawkins router). You don't need any type of driver loaded or anything extra with the Belkin USB G. I don't know what chipset the wirless card you have in your laptop has; but Linux Fedora 7 only supports a few. The Belkin uses the zydas chipset and I know Fedora also supposrts two rankin chipsets. There may be others; but I do not know of them. Don't know if you want to buy anything Wireless device just to connect with the Linux side of your duel boot system; but you might have to. Hope this helps a little. fdalabor
