This seems to happen at random times.. One day my PPTP connection is working, the next I can't connect. Today is one of the can't connect days. Here's a relevant chunk of log:

Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pptpd[22595]: CTRL: Client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx control connection started
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pptpd[22595]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: pppd 2.4.4 started by root, uid 0
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: Using interface ppp0
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/1
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pptpd[22595]: GRE: read(fd=7,buffer=80505a0,len=8260) from network failed: status = -1 error = Protocol not available
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pptpd[22595]: CTRL: GRE read or PTY write failed (gre,pty)=(7,6)
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: Modem hangup
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: Connection terminated.
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pppd[22596]: Exit.
Oct 31 13:56:20 arturo pptpd[22595]: CTRL: Client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx control connection finished

All the relevant ports and protocols are allowed through the firewall so I know that is not the problem.. This doesn't seem to be repeatable so It's got me baffled. A couple of times a re-install of pptp fixed it but today that is not working, and I'm pulling my hair out!!! :mad:

So a stop of the service, re-install, and restart service didn't help, but a reboot did. How very window$ like.. I'm thoroughly confused.

EDIT: nevermind, it's quit working again.. :mad:
