View Full Version : Can't connect after password changed

I have this problem every time the admins roll the WPA-PSK password on our wireless network. Up until yesterday my wireless was working flawlessly. Last
night the admins changed the wireless passphrase. This morning, new passphrase in hand I tried to login. NetworkManager requested the new information which I entered. It wouldn't connect, it just keeps requesting connection information. I'm sure I have the correct password and one of the admins looked over my shoulder as I tried to connect. The proprietary laptops in the area all connect without any problems. At various times, either wpa_supplicant of NetworkManager would crash without explanation.
I have reviewed the system files and they all appear to be identical to those that worked before the passphrase change, except for those containing the passphrase.
I have attached the system log.
It seems that I run into this every time the passphrase changes.

I have a simple Intel 2915ABD mPCI card and am running Fedora 7, up to date.

I would greatly appreciate any insight. Thank You.

I can't be 100% sure of the path since I'm on a Sun Box but if you goto:

~/gconf/system/networking/wireless

There should be a folder with the SSID of the AP's that you have connected with. These hold the wireless configuration of the AP's and sometime cause a conflict when the settings change. Just delete the one you want to recreate and try NetworkManager again....

Thanks Iron_Mike,
Found the file (under ~/.gconf/...) and deleted it, but no luck.
The deleted file did not get recreated either.

Use NetworkManager and select "Connect to other Wireless Network" and fill in the blanks...

Iron_Mike,
I tried all methods that NetworkManager provides, I even went back an recreated
the physical interface. I'm suspicious that something else might be going on. At one
point I connected but it immediately disconnected. I have requested a look at the log
files for the AP's to see if there are any clues there.

In case it matters, our AP's are Cisco Aironet 1200

Also look at passphrase, the wpa_supplicant in Fedora sometimes has issues when passphrase contains some of the higher ASCII characters....
