Hi all,

I successfully installed Fedora 8 on a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. The wireless card is a Intel 3945 Pro Wireless card

I can see the wireless card as wlan0 in the Network configuration wizard...

I enter the ssid of my router and the encryption key...However on trying to activate the device I get the error message:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06): SET failed on device wlan0; invalid argument

Determining IP information for wlan0... failed

Any help guyz...

I remember having this same problem in FC6 when I first installed it ... I think it was summer 2007. Anyway, I opened the Network Configuration GUI, edited the wireless configuration, and found a bad mode (I don't remember if it was apparently wrong, or if it was simply unset). I changed mode to Automatic and that cleared it up for me. Mode is on the Wireless Settings tab.

Anyway, poke around in there. I'm guessing you'll find an obviously wrong setting.
