Hello,
I recently setup a printer share in samba, to allow XP users to print to my linux printer. The problem is that everything connects ok, CUPS even shows the print job as being complete, but nothing comes out of the printer. If I take the same file and print it in Linux (Fedora 8), it prints ok.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Avrohom

The one time I saw something like this, it was an HP 840C printer. For some reason, on XP, it only worked if I gave it the 550 (or 550C?) driver. I never figured out why, I just saw the solution somewhere, gave it a shot and it worked. If it's an HP deskjet of some sort, I think the 550C is some sort of almost generic driver.

I'm having a slightly different problem with Samba 3.0.28 and sharing a printer with an XP box.
I have an HP F380 installed on my F8 box and I can print to it locally without any problems. I have samba running and can share directories with an XP laptop without a problem. However, when I browse to my F8 box from XP, I see only the directories I'm sharing, not my printer. I had no problem sharing the printer with my XP box when I was running FC6 but since formatting and installing F8, I am unable to get this working.
I've turned off firewalls on both XP and F8 and SELinux is disabled.
I am attaching a copy of my smb.conf
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm really at my wits end.

Thanks a lot p3zata that fixed it! Oddly enough, I had that commented out and was successfully sharing the printer on FC6. I wonder why it didn't work this time around.

I've been having issues using a print server with an F8 box on a network with 4 XP boxes. I set the print server up in Fedora as an lpd/host printer. Typed in the IP address, host name, etc, and applied all the settings. I started a test page which got half way through and then stopped. I could not get a test page to print no matter what I tried. I went back to Fedora 7 and set the print server up the exact same way and have no issues. Any ideas??
