Hi, I have two computers - one running Fedora 6 (dual boot with WINXP) and another one running WINXP. I want to have internet access from both of them. The one running Fedora is connected to cable internet and it is connected to second one by cross cable.
When both of them are on Windows that's easy and there is no any problem, but how to do that on Linux-Windows network. What is the easiest why to that.
Thanks in advance.

Why not purchase an inexpensive gateway/router/switch that you plug both computers into to form a network, and the box has the connection to the cable modem. The box will give you some firewall protection as well.

If not, then set up your WinXP machine to point to your FC6 machine as the gateway and DNS server. But I highly recommend you set up a good firewall in the FC6 machine because when connected directly to a cable modem without a box like the one I mentioned your PC is exposed to the entire internet. Anyone out there can find it and easily hack into it.

OK, I will try with wireless router, but i don't know anything about its configuration. Is that problem to connect linux and win computer by router?
