I HAS BEEN GOT AN 5 STAR AWARD FROM SOFT82.

Hi.. I made this after I made many research for Huawei modem E220. Better try it. It is easy and save a time. A reason why I develope this installer is to make solution for trouble in configuration of Huawei E220 modem on linux. Read at read me. Execute this tar.gz file first. This is my first post to linuxers. Hope this stuff could solve your problems. The easiest way is to save our time to get connecting on internet. Get the stuff at here:

Huawei E220 on Ubuntu, pclos 2007, pclos 2008, Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna and mandriva.

How to install??

Extract file

cd to the directory

make

make install

That's all. This is built only for Pclinuxos and mandriva. Don't use my e220rc1 or he220rc2. This installer is final release for mandriva and pclinuxos. It's stable.

For other distro brand (such as fedora, opensuse, sabayon, gentoo, debian etc), download here:

Get it free at (he220rc2):

http://www.savefile.com/files/1378220
http://upload2.net/page/download/vO1zcUWsn4gdGBW/he220rc2.tar.gz.html

It's suitable for Kernel 2.6 and latest and I has been trying this stuff to opensuse 10-11, sabayon mini, pclos 2007 gnome, mint Daryna, fedora 7-8, mandriva 2007-2008, ubuntu gutsy -hardy and ubuntuME. I has testing to gOS 2.0 too but it doesn't work because it require wvdial installer. Maybe it also compatible with gentoo, slackware and redhat family too and give me a comment about it. Good news, it's very easy with Ubuntu based but I'm not sure about OpenGEU.

FOR MANDRIVA AND PCLOS, it must be connect by this way:

-After you do this, go to Mandriva Control Centre, Network&Internet,"
-Analog Phone, Manual choice -> choose /dev/ttyUSB0, dont choose any "
provider, just proceed with NEXT, evetually type the following: "
-Connection name: Your-Provider "
-Phone number : *99# "
-Login ID : ppp (can be whatever) "
-Password : ppp (can be whatever) "
-Authentication : CHAP "
-Keep clicking on NEXT and you shall be connected soon ;)

FEDORA USER
nO MORE IP IDENTIFY...

Additional:
-If you get anything problems with wvdial hsdpa, I suggest you to try KPPP or Kinternet to get connect. (especially to Sabayon and Gentoo user)
- You can change or modify a username, password and phone number at /etc/wvdial.conf if need.
- I am glad if you can comment me about my huawei E220 installer.
- Don't sell my installer!! It is free for everyone

Hi,

I have read your post and tried to follow the same procedure in Redhat Linux AS4. unfortunately, i am not successful in installing Huawei E220 Wireless modem...

Here are the problems encountered:

1. in /dev directory, ttyUSB0-ttyUSB3 does not exists, so i decided to create it manually...

$ mknod /dev/ttyUSB0 C 188 0...and i was able to create the device..

2. tried to execute the "make install" using your script but it is failing..

instead of /dev/ttyUSB0, the device is using /media/cdrom1 (which is not on the list of devices when i tried to use KPPP program).

Question: Is this installer successfully tested in Redhat AS4? Can anybody who can identify my error?.

Thanks in advance... I really need this to work..
