Hi,
I am on fedora 8 and my wifi is secure with WPA-PSK/TKIP security. I searched a lot, but didn't find any solution. So here I am.
The problem is my network manager freezes on applying the psk security. I tried iwconfig method too, but failed. Can anybody shed some light if its a bug or state some working procedure?

Check to be sure wpa_supplicant is not set to activate on boot.
NM need to have control over wpa_supplicant.

I tried that already! It just freezes. I wanna know if there's some working method or if its a bug in WPA personal! I got my system updated, but it seems it still freezes over it. I tried wpa-pask 2 also. But no use!

I have WPA PSK working on three machines without problem.
Although others have problems getting connected I've never heard anyone claim it froze their computers.
Have you tried - or indeed are you able to try - taking WPA off your access point and making a connection then, just as a short term testing measure.

Same goes for me, has worked flawlessly.
Did it ever work? If not start out as bbfuller suggests and try without security and see if it works.
Then start the troubleshooting, you could have a hardware / firmware issue if its hosing the computer.
What wireless chipset do you have?

Sorry for taking long, but neways I checked without any security and it still freezes.
It gave a freeze on every boot after removing security. So I had to undo from init 1.
I have WG111v3 Wireless.G USB 2.0 adaptor.

This is V3 which uses some variant of P54 chipset.
Try using different driver and see if you can get it working.
I did a quick google and the news is not good regarding your problem.

I know that as I have done extensive googling myself. But I'm still not losing hope. Neways what do u mean by different driver?

A different driver is what you need, the one you have is not getting it done.
I've had similar problem with ndiswrapper and what I did was give up!
I spent too much time on it I should have bought a different device sooner.
If you are looking for a cheap non usb card this one works with madwifi, sell the old one on Ebay

Nah, thats not it. I wud prefer trying some more. I read sumwhere that the driver size is big for kernel stack space which might be causing the freeze. So, I will try kernel optimization too. Lets see.... :)

4k stack issue....Here's the bad news...
Everytime you want to update the kernel you have to recompile else your ndiswrapper won't work.
Way too much trouble, my opinion.
You see the posts flood in after the kernel updates " my wireless stopped working after kernel update"
Any way good luck to you, I hope you get it working.

You only have to recompile ndiswrapper after a kernel update if you have originally obtained it from the ndiswrapper site.
The recommended course of action for ndiswrapper is to obtain it from the Livna repositories. That way, within a very short time period after a kernel has been updated, new ndiswrapper modules will be available as well.
Doesn't necessarily help with the 4k stack size problem. If I am reading the situation right, that is due to an interaction between ndiswrapper, the kernel and whichever Windows driver you use. If it causes a problem then it's always helpful to look on the ndiswrapper site here:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/index.php?/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,33/
and look for your card. Someone else may have got it going with a different driver.
