Hi all,
I recently came across a cheap issue of Linus' "memoirs",
and although I'm not especially into books, I read it with much pleasure.
And I've found many parallels to my own geeky youth :D
I'm just wondering if any of you guys have read the book?

No but I intend to! I also want to read another book i've seen which takes in more than just Linus and Linux but the whole Gnu evolution, the Linux kernel and programs like sendmail and httpd.
I can't think for the life in me what its called right now... :(

I also have something like the "Red Hat Story" lying around somewhere...
I guess I'm gonna read that one next. And yes, the GNU story around Richard
Stallmann would be very interesting to read, too. I'm going to watch out for this....

Got "Just For Fun" for my Birthday, and Ug, I think you are taling about "Rebel Code" - just finishing that now.
It's the best book on OSS ever!!!

I have read "Just for fun" and it's very good
The book on RedHat first day is also very very good (a little bit more business oriented than "just for fun"

I would like to do some reading on the topic of OSS, could someone who have read some books make a list of the best ones to read?
Personally I've only seen the movies :P, I've seen "The Code: Linux" which was ok and "Revolution OS" which was really good.

I didn't know there were movies. I have seen the Python one.
Did you know Linux almost forked at v2.0?

I have read "Just for Fun" and it was a good book. I would also suggest "Rebel Code" by Glyn Moody.

I liked The cathedral and The Bazar (http://www.catb.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/)

'Revolution OS' was a good movie about the history of the open source community featuring gnu and linux. That's where I learned how to pronounce Linus' name correctly (rhymes with menace, not minus).
