So my wireless (it's an intel PRO 3945 ABG) works out of the box when using fedora 8, but it's just really slow. The strange thing is you would it was because of bad connection but most of the times my connection percentage is about 84% (i've installed de iwlwifi driver) in contrary to ubuntu were it's only about 72%.
But in ubuntu my internet gets decent speed while in fedora it's just plain slow , I spend three hours and a half hours yesterday fetching the system updates through yum, eventhough they were only 300 MB.
Another anoying thing is the fact that the ringmanager keeps asking me for a password everytime I boot up wich is kind of annoying because it doesn't to that to me in other distro's.
I'm using a wep key for protection and I'm guessing that's were the problems are but I'm not sure.

Using WEP is just completely ineffective. Try using WPA or better yet WPA2 if available on the router/access point.

Well i don't have much of a choice so I have to use WEP, I'm guessing the problems are caused by networkManager himself because when I try to make a connection by using a cable it takes about one minute to make a connection to the network and after that all my internet applications tell me I'm not online ?? :(

OK, let's see. How's your update status ? FIre up a terminal and post the following:uname -a

yum repolist

Also, attach the /var/log/messages file AFTER you try to connect via cable, to see those error messages
