I just read this article.

Fedora 9 is using Grub 0.97. Is this a pontential problem?

Only for those that have not been paying attention to grub and e2fsprogs development over the last 3 years.
1. Grub is and has been at eol for a long time.
2. e2fsprogs has been developing ext4 for over 2 years. Each point lease has a log of changes. Several mention inodes, ext4, defaults.
So Fedora patched their grub and installer program, and made the ext4dev format available.
So why didn't the other distro RT#M? Got me, I had too!
BTW: ext4dev has been in the kernel for a long time.
As my second wife used to say,
Sooooooooooooooooo sad,
Too Bad!.
