Linux fedora core 2
GNOME

I have a linux fedora core 2 with GNOME on the corporate network. It gets dhcp address from corporate dhcp server. I have changed host name of my machine to xxxxx-xx and want that host name associated with the IP address.
Whenever it gets IP address it changed fully qualified name to dny<IP address>.best.com. What I want is I want to have machine name: xxxxx-xx.best.com whenever it gets IP address.

I have also changed HOSTNAME = xxxxx.test.com in \etc\sysconfig\network

Any input to resolve this issue is appreciated.
Thanks

Ha, I get this too. What is happening is that your are getting your hostname pushed to you by your corporate dhcp server. I would give your Sys Admin a call to change hard code your hostname, or just make your ip static and not get a hostname given to you

use system-config-network for this.
