Hi,

I need help. After some upgrade using up2date, my gnome applications menu disappeared.
I checked:
file /etc/xdg/menus/applications-menu is in place.
file /etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/default-modules.conf is there and matches default-modules.conf.with-menu-editing.

But: if I run

gnomevfs-ls applications:

(process:12977): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Cannot load module `/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libvfolder-desktop.so' (/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libvfolder-desktop.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

(process:12977): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Cannot load module `/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libvfolder-desktop.so' (/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libvfolder-desktop.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Error opening: Invalid URI

I didn't find libvfolder-desktop.so in gnome-vfs2 rpm.

If I try to open applications:/// in Nautilus, I get an error.

Well,

Looks like no one had similar problem before (or maybe had it and couldn't resolve).

I'm using KDE now, although I'd return to Gnome if I could resolve menu issue.

After some digging and remembering, I found out that:

1. It wasn't an update which screwed up menus, it was kernel crash (well, I did one
or two stupid things).

2. I tried to wipe out content of /tmp directory, didn't help.

I don't want to reinstall the system, because it's my default gateway/firewall and
because there is a lot of stuff I don't want to lose.

Any ideas?

Hi, I did a search for my problem and saw this post. I solved the problem and even though this post is old, thought I'd go ahead and reply.

Apparently it was matter of reinstalling fam. So I did a search for it at rpmsearch for FC3 and found it in gamin. So I downloaded it and reinstalled gamin and that seems to have solved my problem.
