Hi all
Has anyone had any luck in getting the sound to work with the K8V MB? The system sees the hardware but no sound.
The hardware works with mandrake somewhat but I like Fedora better overall and everything else is working great.
I really don't know Linux well enough in command line mode but have no problem following clear instructions. Thanks for any help

There is a x86_64 (AMD-64) version of FC2 out yes. (it has some package install quibbles but other than that it is fine).

Thanks for that Info. I checked on Distro Watch and the AMD-64 ver isn't up yet but I will be getting it as soon as it comes up. Hopefully it will pick up the sound. If not I can always put another sound card in till the software catches up. Thanks again.

Another question. I haven't used bittorrent. Will it work if I'm running behind a router?

It should work regardless, although behind a router speed may be seriously restricted.
If this happens you need to forward ports 6881 through 6889.

I used to have FC1 and the sound worked fine. Only you need to connect the speakers to the Mic line. Odd ha?

That really is strange.
I installed FC2-x86_64 and still had a problem
though it tested OK at first. When I played a CD the sound was very low volume and then just died. I finally installed an Aopen (yamaha 744B) PCI sound card that I had laying around and now everything is working great.

By default, sound come very low in Fedora and redhat.
try menu-> Sound & Video -> KMix and raise the volumes up. try raising all the lines, one by one and see how it affects the volume.

Thanks but I tried that. It wasen't the problem. All is working good now so am not worried about it at the moment. I am now trying to figure out how to install other programs from #4 CD and also mirror sites. I have worked with debian and mandrake but yum is a new animal to me. I'm not sure it is set up for FC2 amd_64 yet. I did get real player installed and can listen to radio . Still have a lot to learn about media players. Those are thet grey areas I need to work on. The system has been rock solid and FC1 and FC2 are also great. Thanks again

I have other install issues with FC3, but I have the same MB (K8V) and it played a test sound perfectly. This is with the AMD_64 version. Maybe you could just upgrade the kernel? If you still care now that you have a sound card anyways...
