Well, i followed great instructions on fedoranews and made some x86_64 rpms from Mozilla firefox and thunderbird. How i make rpms from other programs (sources), is desktop or icon files required or just optional?

Anyway, rpms i made work (for me) just fine

Thanks for these, I will try them out as soon as I boot into x86_64.

from Fedora Core 2 for x86_64 Release FAQ (http://www.linuxtx.org/amd64faq.html)

If your preferred application is not available in a64 bit repository, the best recommendation is to download source rpms and rebuild them. 'rpmbuild --rebuild --target x86_64 foo.3rdparty-1.src.rpm' will attempt a64 bit rebuild. Some packages still have errors due to poor assumptions as to linked library locations, etc.

And here (http://fedora.linux.duke.edu/fedorax86_64/fedora.us/2/x86_64/) is some of the fedora.us rpms rebuilt for the x86_64.

So, in short, just grap the src.rpm packge for any program into /usr/src/redhat/SRPMS/ and use the rpmbuild --rebuild --target x86_64 PACKAGE-NAME.src.rpm.

As soon as I get my x86_4 machine up and running. (C3T2) I'll start rebui.lding packages. Maybe we can group together and maintain the fedora.us and what not. They and livna.org serem to have stop supporting the x86_64 platform. I'll be happy to contribute cpu time to get some great packages for this arch. I would hate to see fedora do as bad as mandrake did for amd64 (x86_64).

Gotta run to work,
