Hi,
I am new here and i'm trying to make my modem work under Fedora 1. It's a winmodem (i think) and i've used a tool called scanModem that has to tell me if this modem can work and what I have to install to make it work. Well, the problem is that it generates a few text files where I don't know where to look to know these things. I enclose one file called ModemData.txt to see if one of you is able to help me and tell me if this modem can work. I have a few more text files and I'm not sure if this is the one to look, otherwise tell me and I'll show you any of the other ones.
Thanks!!

i read your text attachment....it i dont think this is a winmodem, luckily for you i believe i a smartlink modem and are supported by linux.

www.archtek.com are the vendors of the smartlink modems look for a driver there.

driver here: http://www.archtek.com/drivers.html

correction you have a pctel modem. i am not really sure but you may try their drivers.

I have a modem with the conexant chipset that installed perfectly. You'll need to determine if you need the HSF drivers or HCF (Controllerless) drivers. Mine required the latter. The drivers can be obtained from http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ follow the detailed instructions the company provides and you should be good to go.

Good Luck.

P.S. I believe the modem detection gave me false info saying their was no modem but i set up an internet connection and the internet connection wizard saw my modem.

I too have a Conexant HSF 56k HSFi Data/Fax Modem, and I too installed the driver from linuxant.com. But there's one glitch to this: Free distribution Linuxant drivers run the modem at a maximum speed of 14.2 kbps, as clearly stated in their LICENCE file. For the full speed version, you gotta pay.

Are there no FREE drivers for Conexant modems?
