[Solved] Cool 'n Quiet

I didn't have the same luck as the folks here (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21137). I'm still getting BIOS error -- no PSB when I try to load powernow-k8. I also get it when I compile the module into the kernel. After hunting the Internet and the bug lists I still cannot find the missing piece to the puzzle. Not sure if it's my BIOS, the BIOS settings, the CPU or my kernel configuration. There must be some combination that I haven't hit on yet.

If anyone has this working and has the time to walk me through it, I'd be very greatful.

I may have found an answer to my problem. I came across this link (http://lwn.net/Articles/74291/) that leads me to believe a new ACPI solution is in the works. I haven't seen this patch in the kernel source as yet, but hopefully it will be in FC3 final.

We're in business!

I requested a Beta BIOS from MSI that would allow Cool -n Quiet to work with Linux and quite surprizingly, they sent me one and it does work.

Attached is the BIOS image they sent me for the MSI K8N Neo. Here's my recommended method for BIOS updating:C:\> AWFL833D W7030NMS.151 /py /sn /Wb /cd /cc /cp /EIf all goes well, CTRL-ALT-DEL. Then hit DEL to enter your BIOS and reset everything to your liking.

I've been testing the 2.6.8-1.603 kernel with FC2. I tried the new cpufreq_ondemand frequency governor and it does work, though I have noticed some slight glitches--expect these to be resolved in FC3 final.

Thanks a million for the info. I'm contacting MSI about the 7025 Neo2.

I tried the 1.5B2 bios, but it still generates the erros.
