Running FCT3, Gnome.

gkrellm shows a prominent CPU spike every 4 seconds. I remember seeing this on the fedora-list but a search doesn't show the thread anywhere.

This didn't happen on FC1 or FC2.
TOP shows nothing unusual. The spike is so quick I think it just doesn't show up.

It's not locking up my box or slowing me down, but it is steady as a metronome.

Has anyone else seen this?
Reommendations for troubleshooting?

Box is a Dell C840 laptop PIII/700 with 384MB RAM.

I wish I could fine that thread from the fedora-list mailer!

TIA,

G

Are you using a journalling file system? My understanding is that this is related to a the journaling in ext3 or ReiserFS.

ext3.

But I had that earlier and didn't see the spike.
Something somewhere is looking for something every 4 seconds.
I have googled til my eyes are blue and I can't see anything that mentions a *recurring* spike like this.
The only thing I've found similar is someone that found KDE was causing a slightly similar thing with GAIM.

Are you using ext3? Do you see a recurring spike?

Thanks.
