As I was writing this post, I found the solution on the Ximian website (http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/ximian.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=e325*hch&p_lva=&p_faqid=408&p_created=1054848203&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTE2JnBfc2VhcmNoX 3RleHQ9ZXZvbHV0aW9uIDEuNCBjYWxlbmRhciZwX3BhZ2U9MQ* *&p_li=)
But I'll post it anyway for the benefit of other users.
I've recently upgraded to Fedora Core 2 from RedHat 9, including an upgrade from Evolution 1.2.x to 1.4.6.
When I run Evolution and attempt to view the Calendar, I am presented with the Task list. This is caused by upgrading from 1.2.x to 1.4.x. To fix the problem, select the left pane of the Task list (be careful not to select the right pane of the navigation bar) and drag it to the right and you should see the Calendar appear (i.e. the calendar is actually there, but is "minimised").
