I had a SMC Barracade Router and everything worked fine until the router died. I purchased an Edimax BR-6104P as a replacement. Two computers, one using only FC2 (server) and the other a dual boot with Win98 and FC2 (better half's), have no problems.
My computer, which is a SMP machine setup to dual boot with Win XP and FC3, has an issue only when booted in FC3. The network scripts appear to start OK, but I can't connect to the router unless I deactivate and then activate eth0...sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times. The NIC in this machine is a Kingston which is reported as a Lite-On LNE100TX. I've used the tulip driver on this NIC successfully going back to RH 7.5.
My troubleshooting involved loading FC2...no joy. Load non-SMP kernel...no joy. Change from static to a DHCP address...no joy. I tried Mandrake Move...no joy. The other two machines have the NIC built-in to the MB so I can't swap NICs. I moved up to PCI slot 2 from slot 5, (can't go to slot 1 due to physical interference with the fan on the AGP board), and it actually worked correctly one time - must have been a fluke. Subsequent to that...no joy.
Obviously the NIC works, but how the heck can I get it to communicate with the dang router without going through the de-activate then activate routine?
