Netgear wg511 and prism54 driver issues

I am using a compaq presario laptop w/ ati 320M igp chipset. I had this card running yesterday at work, came up on first boot no problem. When I got home, I started getting "Set Bit Rate" (8b20) errors and then I could no longer get an IP address. The system keeps trying to ping the old gateway from the one working IP it had to test.

The wired ethernet card works fine.

I checked dmesg, and the firmware loads.
eth1: firmware uploaded done, now triggering reset
eth1: no ipv6 routers present
eth1: islpci_close()

iwconfig says

eth1 NOT READY! essid:"space" and the rest of that looks normal

What is going on?

Well I did some rebooting, and brought up another kernel, and I was able to get an IP. I then ran ifdown eth1 (wifi) and than rebooted to the kernel I want to run, and was able to get an ip again. I do not have my wifi card loading at startup, I do it manually. I did not do an ifdown yesterday when my system got locked to where it wouldn't renew an ip. It was also on automatic startup then too.
