hi all

the problem im facing is as such: i have 2 dual booting systems, a laptop and a pc FC3 and Win XP pro. on the pc, both OS can access the internet (i use manual IP setting), but on the laptop, regardless of what i have done, when i try to telnet or use firefox to access a site it immediately says site cannot be found or unavaliable. i have tried removing and reinstalling the eth0 device, playing around with the firewall settings, changing cables etc but nothing seems to work. what i cannot understand is how when i have 2 similarly set up systems (both clean reformat), one works and the other doesnt.

much thanks in advance

If this is happening in both FC3 and your other dual-boot OS, I'd go into the bios and make sure the onboard LAN is enabled.

Also you might want to make sure since you are using static addressing that you went under the DNS tab and pointed to your DNS servers. Try to ping 64.233.161.99 which is google's ip address. If you can ping that then all you have to do is put in your DNS servers and it will take care of your problem.

Hi guy's, first post for me!!!
I've got the same problem and I'm a newbie.

I've a Desktop with WinXP pro, another one with FC3 32bit and a Laptop with a dualboot (WinXP pro and FC3 x86_64). Internet acces is provide by an ethernet ADSL router, with static IP for router and also for clients. I use the router's IP like gateway and Primary DNS and this works fine up to now.

Both the XP installations works fine, using firefox. With the FC3 32bit I'm able to surf the web with Konqueror and firefox but firefox is very slow to load any page. With the FC3 x86_64 internet doesn't work. I'm able to ping any LAN clients, router included, but I can't surf the net.

Using Mandrake 10.1 32bit I never had any problem to use internet with any browser, with the same configuration.

Sorry for my english. :(
