Hi all,
I have been trying for a couple fo days to get the last piece of the Linux Puzzle going on my Inspiron 8500 - the internal modem.
I have used Scan Modem to query what I have and it reports the following:
UPDATE=2005_Feb_ 1
ONLY use scanModem downloaded as: http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz
./scanModem should ONLY be run within a Linux/UNIX partition.
If within a MicroSoft/DOS partition, abort with Ctrl-C now !!!
Copy scanModem.gz to your Linux partition and restart.

capable of supporting under Linux AT LEAST modem Subsystem chips from manufacturers:
Broadcom
AgereSystems
Conexant
Intel
Smartlink
Use the SmartLink slmodem software for support.
To enable a soft modem test, please briefly login as Root:
su - root
Load a softmodem support module:
modprobe snd-intel8x0m
Exit Root status
exit
and rerun
./scanModem
Does anyone have any idea of drivers that work with my Kernel ? I have Fedora Core 3 with all the latest updates installed - 2.6.10-1.741_FC3
I have tried Linuxant (though usure if themodem is HCF or the other one) and a few of the others though have not had any luck
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Blair
