I need to setup printing for the new fedoraCore2 install. In the network, the printer is connected to a print-server which has the IP = 192.168.0.10 and the printer is HP Laserjet 4P. There is a router Gateway which IP=192.168.0.1 . I can ping the print-server and got reply.

please advise.

thanks.

Hi,

if you can ping the print server then your set to go. Just fire up system-config-printer and give it a shot :)

Make sure you have "cups" running. (ps ax | grep cups) "Lpd" is no longer supported.

Also, for some reason, after I configured my printer I had to reboot the system before it "found" the new settings. There may be a restart to do this, but I was going to boot it anyway.

What model of print server? A JetDirect? They have their own connection type in the printer setup tool (System Settings > Printing).

My household had a 4P once. Reliable printer.
