Hey there... I just recently installed Linux (Fedora Core 1) and got the internet working. My brother also has it on his computer. We tried to set up a network, but we can't ping eachother. We both have dual boot systems with Fedora and Windows 2000 on them. We have a network with internet sharing on the 2000 partition, but we can't seem to get it to work on Linux. Here are some of my settings:
ETHERNET
Ethernet Card-3Com on eth0
IP Address-192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask-255.255.255.0
no gateway
no routes set
MODEM
auto obtain ip with-dial up
no routes set
Modem port-modem0
My brother's Ethernet settings are as follows.
ETHERNET
IP Address-192.168.0.2
Subnet mask-155.155.155.0
Gateway-192.168.0.1
I also got a program called Firestarter and started messing with a few things on that. With those settings, we are not able to ping from either machine. I appreciate anyones help. Thank ya much.
