Which wireless card are you using that causes you pc to freeze? Now post your cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ath0

Could be you need a 16k stack kernel for using winxx drivers for wifi.

Windows drivers are incredibly inefficent requiring deep stacks. This means that they will crash on most kernels. You need a specially rebuilt kernel with 16K stacks. This is unsupported by Fedora but you can get it to work.

this is happening to me too.. whenever i try to open the internet config wizard, the system freezes and i have to hit the power button on the case. i am using a netgear wg311v2 card and i used driverloader to load the winxp drivers from the netgear cd.
i have a wired connection too, so i don't really need the wireless and i'd prefer that my system not lock up like that. i removed the netgear drivers from driverloader, hopefully that will fix the lockup issue

ok that fixed the lockup problem. i downloaded the 2.6.10 linux kernel patch from http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/downloads-patches.php, but i am not so sure how to install it

fyi, you can download rpms of the 16k kernels here: http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/full/downloads-fc3-kernel-i686.php :)

ok, i got the 16k kernel installed and i loaded the drivers, but it's still being difficult. here is the error message from driverloader.....
No devices found.
It seems that your device is either not present or not supported by the installed driver(s). Either:
1. Plug-in your device and click [Refresh] to retry, OR
2. Upload a new driver using the [Upload Windows Driver] button below.
If your device still does not appear, please look at the Kernel Messages for possible clues and check that no conflicting kernel modules are loaded.

well the wireless card is finally working (first post on wireless ;)), but it wasn't so easy. i ended up using one of the custom 16k kernels from http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/full/downloads-fc3-kernel-i686.php. the url of the kernel i used was http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/full/archive/fc3/kernel-2.6.10-1.770_FC3.stk16.i686.rpm.zip
i also used the generic package from http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/full/downloads.php. the url of the package is http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/full/archive/driverloader-2.26/driverloader-2.26-1.i386.rpm.zip
I ended up having to register for an account and paying the $20 fee, but that's alright.
