Hey all,

I've read through a few threads on here about using VNC with GDM and XDMCP.

I've downloaded and installed vnc-ltsp-config. When I installed vnc-ltsp-config, it created a service called vncts, and entered the ports into /etc/services correctly. Following instructions in the /etc/xinet.d/vncts file, I've added localhost to the /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess file. I've also enabled XDMCP in the Login Settings, and unticked the "Always disallow TCP connections to X server (disables all remote connections)" box on the security tab.

I've also disabled the firewall, just in case that was blocking the connection, but it still doesn't work, no matter how many times I change to runlevel 3 and back to 5 or reboot.

I'm using webmin too, and if I enable vncserver, then I can connect as the user I configured it to connect as (i.e. It connects as david:1). I've disabled vncserver when trying to get this to work, but to no avail.

I've noticed that when I tick vncts in the services configuration, it's always unticked when I come back to check it.

Any help would be appreciated,
Dave

P.S. Apologies if this has been covered before on this forum, but I couldn't find anything relating to this specific problem.

I can't help with this *specific* issue, however, many of us have had great success with the method outlined in this thread:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1606

I would abandon the vnc-ltsp-config method and go with the tried and true method above.

hth,
Jason

Thanks for that - I just got around to trying it, and it worked a treat!
