I've set up my wireless card and it's working fine, but I noticed something odd tonight...
While playing around with different settings, I removed the KEY=XXX.... line from my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/cfg-eth1 file and tried to connect using ifup eth1. It connected just fine and when I ran an iwconfig the key is still there. Why does this happen? Is the key saved somewhere else once it connects?

have a look in your GConf - under :
system->networking->wireless->networks
'Though I'm not sure if these are actually being 'read' by the ifup script... :confused:

I removed the wireless connection 'eth1' from the gui's network device control. However, when I ran 'ifup eth1' in the command line (with the key still removed from the ifcfg-eth1 file) it still came up and iwconfig still shows the key there. The device info must be saved elsewhere, I'm just curious where it is saved, and why it isn't brought up with the exact settings I specify in the ifcfg-eth1 file (because isn't that what the file is for?).
Thanks.

I may have figured out why the key is still loading...
Apparently there is a file named 'keys-eth1' in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. I'm not sure when this file is generated, but regardless what I have in ifcfg-eth1, the key(s) from this file is used when I run ifup.
