connecting to wireless networks at home, work, & school?

i am very new to FC4... just managed to get my IPW2200 to work-- so much work, lol. Anyways, will I have to do anything different to connect to wireless networks at other places other than my home? New network devices? Can I have my wireless device activate on start, and connect to wireless network at all of these places or do I need one for each place?
