Hello all that are willing to help,

Here's the situation:
I have a WMP54G v.2 Linksys card with a Broadcom "BCM43XX" chipset.
I have Fedora core 4, obviously b/c why would i be in a Fedora Forum..anyways.
I installed ndiswrapper, it said hardware/drivers present and the system log dmesg said
I was good to go. I was able to change my essid only AFTER I set on my router for ssid to broadcast. I was pulling my hair out trying to change my ESSID and it wouldn't until i made the router broadcast. Anyways couldn't understand the WPA-PSK directions something about makin a .config. So i just made life simple and changed to Wep 128 bit. I know it's easy to crack using aircrack, airsnort etc, but I was gonna try to fix that in the future. Ok so i did all that and it worked for the first time, well I wouldn't be in here to just gloat. I did the ndiswrapper -m to saving my config and went into the settings and added my wireless card to the config, clicked on ndiswrapper(wlan0) and saved. I thought everything was cool, so i restarted. It didn't work when I came back I know it said that it wouldn't boot up unless i added ndiswrapper to the premodprobe file or something like that but i just restarted anyways, stupid me i guess. Well now to my problem...lol, Can someone help me figure out the whole WPA install and where do i make the changes so it will boot up everytime correctly, and now after the restart when i try to do iwconfig or iwlist it says cannot find library. Also when i installed wireless tools, it did say to add /lib dir to /etc/lib.so.config sry if thats alittle off, but i wasn't sure what that meant. So maybe thats the problem why i can't do iwconfig and iwlist anymore.

ok just to make sure here are my problems
1. Cannot do "iwconfig, iwlist, etc" anymore, I could before i restarted, it claims cannot find library
2. What file do i change "modprobe.config.."? So when i do get everything corrected with ndiswrapper it will boot up and i wont have to mess around with it
3. WPA-PSK, i want to use this instead of WEP, but the directions were not simplified enough on how to install.

PS I didn't notice any WMP54G thread that specifically asked about the version 2 adapter so thats why I posted a new thread

thx
-Brian

I don't have the rt25000 chipset, i said I have the broadcom chipset. The rt25000 is for the version 4 of WMP54G. I have the version 2!

Oh yea to get back to what library i couldn't load when i did iwconfig or iwlist. It says "iwconfig: cannot load shared library:libiw.so.27 cannot find file or directory"

LoL, well i guess i'm figuring out my own problems which is probably the best way to learn. I figured out why the !@#%#$ kept saying cannot load shared libraries: libiw.so.27. It turns out it has dependencies just like mine for sugar water aka Pop, yes thats right Pop. So, anyways i fixed it by going into my ld.so.conf file in /etc and added /usr/local/lib above the line that ends in .conf. It has to be above it for it to be understood. Then I ran ldconfig, and it now lets me do iwconfig, and iwlist, etc. I guess reading/research does pay off..lol

Well if you have the WMP54G v.2 adapter use the drivers off of the cd that came with it. It does say not to do that but if you look on the wiki "cards that work" page. It recommends to use the drivers off of the cd. Use the command "ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf" to install all the drivers. Then do "ndiswrapper -l" for List

I forgot to say to "modprobe ndiswrapper" before you dmesg, b/c you obviously wont see until you activate it.

this did not work for me; wouldn't make. said struct pci_dev had no member slot_name. this was with core 4. as scorpio1883 mentioned, mine is a broadcom 54g card.
