Atheros and Agere\Lucent Orinoco NOT WORKING

I did a fresh installation to my laptop.....now my atheros wireless card and a new proxim agere\lucent orinoco card no longer work.....ANY IDEAS because I cant figure our the problem.

UPDATE: I was able to install madwifi for atheros in second laptop which does not have nvidia display but orinico still not being recognize. The compaq R3000 has nforce chipset through the mobo and for some reason this laptop does not pick up the madwifi drivers.

UPDATE: I found out that the pmcia is not compatible with linux and my choice will be to use compatible usb wifi device so I will keep searching.
