I've installed FC4 and it detected my ASOUND 10/100 PCI ethernet card as a MYSON Technology Inc SURECOM EP-320X-S 100/10M Ethernet PCI Adapter. When it tries to start eth0, it says:

failed..no link present, check cable?

I've verified the card has good link light - it's connected to a netgear wireless router.

Ideas?

Some equipment shows an orange light when there is negotiation going on and a green light when it succeeds. Which did you have? Routers and switches can block ports through software. Try resetting the port with the software you are using to manage the router.

I found this to be a DHCP issue - when I configured the interface w/ static IP info, it activated OK...My wireless router is serving the DHCP addresses - perhaps it's doing something non-standard.

I had the misfortune of working with some "ASound" PCI ethernet cards a few months ago (mine had Realtek RTL8139 chips and were packaged as Intex brand), and never got them to work right. Depending on the PCI slot that I installed the cards in, they would be detected as "ASound," "Myson," or simply would not be detected by the OS (in my case, Windows XP Pro). I bought them for $6 each at a local computer store, and swapped them out for a $10 card that also had the RTL8139 chip. The replacement cards worked great in the same PCs that the Intex cards failed in.
