Linux Noob

With win XP i have now a (not very good working) Inernet connection trough an USB network adapter (Gigaset 54. look for WL-012 on their site).
As i've understood Linux is not very Noob friendly when it comes to networking. So I thought what is better:
Buying a Normal wireless pci adapter for 80.... a , b ,g networks or trying to get the usb device working?
I'm a Total noob so I dont really know any commands ect...
I use Fedora Core so in the GUI (GNOME) there is an configure tool for networks but in there is not something for wireless usb networks (as far as i know)
Thanks
(If you need any info please tell me where to find it and i'll get it for you)
