How do set up an ADSL router?

I have just realised that my ADSL router is only showing 1 computer connected when really i have 2 which leads me to suspect that linux has given both computer the same IP address.

What i wanna know is how you would setup linux to give each computer its own localhost name or local domain name (not sure about this but i think i need to change this) and then tell linux that teh gateway is at the specified address and let the adsl modem distribute the ip addresses to both computers.

Also is there any security issues doing this, i would liek teh software firewall to still be enabled on both machines.

I just figured out how to do it but i will explain how i did it for anyone else who is having the same problem.

What you do is you just enter a hostname under your ethernet device in the devices tab. to do this just select;

menu -> System settings -> Network
