The wireless LAN section of this article (http://stanton-finley.net/HP_Pavilion_ZE2108WM.html) may help.

I am following the guide that Stanton Finley has posted. Everything is fine until the step where he says:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As root do "ndiswrapper -m". You should see:
Adding "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" to /etc/modprobe.conf
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But when I do it it says:
[root@localhost ndiswrapper-1.9]# /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
bcmwl5 driver installed, hardware present
[root@localhost ndiswrapper-1.9]# ndiswrapper -m
bash: ndiswrapper: command not found
Can anyone advise what I did wrong? I am having a HELL of a time getting wireless to work on this Compaq V2000 with AMD Turion64 ML-28 cpu. Here is my kernel info:
[alleycat@localhost ~]$ uname -rm
2.6.15-1.1830_FC4 x86_64
Yum updated this without my permission and I am having all kinds of trouble since the kernel is too new and most things are for the i686 kernel. I must admit I am so FRUSTRATED with this laptop. I have only been using Linux for 3 weeks but everything on my Desktop PC just hums along whereas this laptop has an issue with every single little thing. I have been up for hours working on this laptop. I got no sleep last night, hours and hours getting this thing to work right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Im writing a guide for linux-on-laptops as I work here.

Try "/usr/sbin/ndiswrapper -m" as root.

Thanks Stan for the prompt reply. By the way your install notes from your website are the most helpful thing I have ever found. You really should consider writing a book and getting published.
I had to take a break for awhile. I was getting too pissed off. :o) 8 hours straight working on that laptop with no food or breaks. I must have entered my root password over a hundred times in all. Sometimes its best to walk away froma while and come back fresh.
I had issues running the command lspci -v
Every time I run lspci from the command line it says "command not found"
So I just installed the same driver as your tutorial states but that was a dumb move since I have a Compaq with probably a different card altogether. Without being able to run lspci I didnt know which card I had.
So I completed your instructions and went thru the network configuration wizard but no dice. I probably have the wrong driver.
Can somebody please advise how to remove what i have done and start over from scratch? I ran make uninstall from inside the directory but It warned me that it was not able to clean everything up since different distros put files in different paths.
Perhaps I can leave ndswrapper alone but I need to remove that driver from Acer.
I really appreciate the help. I really hope I can get this fixed so I can create a tutorial on linus-for-laptops to help others.

Search for BCM94318 on this page (http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List), download the driver, unzip it, process it for ndiswrapper similar to the procedure outlined in the wireless LAN section here (http://stanton-finley.net/HP_Pavilion_ZE2108WM.html).

Cool,
Thanks. I got it working now. Thanks for all the help. I accomplished more in 30 minutes with advice than 8 hours on my own. LoL
Now I am just trying to tweak it so that when i press the little button with the light on it it will deactivate the Wireless and Activate it again on next press. I pressed the button and it hung the machine in Linux. I had to hold the power button in for 10 seconds to power off the laptop and then turn it back on.
Well, Im sure I will figure it out but thank you so much for helping me connect.
